Founded in 1982, Edinburgh Music Theatre has spent more than four decades bringing people together through a shared love of musical theatre. As we approach our 50th anniversary in 2032, we're taking the opportunity to develop a new strategy that will guide the company through its next chapter.
This strategy will cover the period 2027-2032, helping us define who we are, what we stand for, and what we want to achieve as we celebrate fifty years of EMT.
As we also prepare to become a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), it's the right time to reflect on our purpose, our values, and the role we play within Edinburgh's cultural and community life.
The Board has already begun this work, but it's important that the strategy reflects the views of the people who make EMT what it is: our cast members, creatives, crew, audiences and supporters.
Over the next few months we'll be inviting different groups to complete a short survey and share their thoughts. Your feedback will help ensure that EMT continues to thrive as a welcoming, ambitious and high-quality musical theatre company for years to come.
Together, we'll create a vision for Edinburgh Music Theatre's future and shape the journey from our 45th year to our golden anniversary in 2032.
We believe Edinburgh Music Theatre is about more than the shows we put on.
For over forty years, EMT has provided opportunities for creativity, friendship, learning, confidence-building and personal development, while producing quality musical theatre for audiences across Edinburgh.
This strategy project will help us understand what matters most to our community, identify the opportunities and challenges ahead, and build a shared vision for the company's future as we approach our 50th anniversary.
Whether you performed with EMT in 1982, 2002 or last season, we'd love to hear from you. Tell us what keeps people coming back, what makes EMT special, and how we can continue to create a welcoming, supportive and rewarding experience for performers over the next five years.
If you've directed, choreographed, musically directed, designed or supported a production creatively, your perspective is invaluable. Help us understand what EMT does well, where we can improve, and how we can continue to attract and support outstanding creative talent.
Whether you're a regular attendee, an occasional visitor, or someone who has never been to an EMT production before, we'd love to hear your views. Help us understand what audiences value, what encourages people to buy tickets, and how EMT can continue to be a vibrant part of Edinburgh's cultural life.
From stage management and backstage crew to technical, wardrobe, props and front-of-house volunteers, EMT couldn't exist without the people behind the scenes. We'd like to understand your experience and how we can better support, develop and celebrate our production teams in the years ahead.
