Earlier this month more than 70 performers came through the doors across three evenings of auditions, followed by one big callback afternoon, all hoping to land a role in our next production, Footloose: The Musical. The energy was electric from the very start, with waiting rooms full of hopefuls giving it their all, it was clear we were in for something special.
Over three nights, we saw an incredible mix of talent, from familiar EMT faces to brand new members eager to join the family. Each audition included singing, acting, and some full-on dance routines (because you can’t do Footloose without some big moves).
After some tough decisions, a smaller group were invited back for callbacks, where the team looked at everything from stamina to chemistry between potential leads. It’s always amazing to see how quickly people connect and lift each other up in that room.
If we had to describe the atmosphere in one word, it would be electric. Everyone brought their best energy, huge voices, big smiles, and yes, a few nerves too. What really stood out was the sense of community. Even people auditioning for the same part were cheering each other on. That’s what makes EMT what it is.
With auditions wrapped and the cast now confirmed, rehearsals are officially underway. You can already feel the excitement building for what’s set to be one of our most high-energy shows yet.
We can’t wait to bring this story of rebellion, dance and self-expression to life next spring. If the auditions were anything to go by, audiences are in for a real treat.
